The Luxury of Writing a Blog
It’s really a great thing to be able to come to these pages and spill my guts no matter what I’m thinking or feeling. Since this blog doesn’t exist to make money in any form, it’s purely a place for me to write and that is pure luxury to me.
It’s right up there with owning my own Starbucks.
Yes, I know it’s not a franchise, but hey, I can dream.
I use to keep journals in spiral notebooks and the like, but I’d lose them or someone would find them and read entries I didn’t want read..you know what that’s like, right? Anyway, I abandoned all of my printed volumes for this blog. I don’t mind that it’s public. I lead a pretty transparent life anyway.
I was thinking about my life the other day and thought about my hobbies. There’s…….um….well, I mean…I like to ….uh… You get the picture. I had difficulty listing things I really like to do that could be considered a hobby.
- I like playing the guitar
- I like shopping for watches
- I like drinking coffee at Starbucks or Aptos Coffee Roasting Co.
But none of these activities can really be classified as a hobby. I actually spend precious little time doing any of them. I rarely shop for watches. I play guitar every now and then. I hardly ever have the time to sit in a coffee shop.
But most days will find me tinkering with one of my blogs.
Yes, blogs. Plural.
- Becoming Irresistible
- ProCaseStudies
- Random Writings from Bazland (no link necessary!)
- Write Your Book
So I guess I could summarize and say that blogging is on the shortlist of Barry’s hobbies. Part business, part pleasure, part recreation.
Wholly luxury.
